Trade and regional integration
Our work in this theme aims to inform trade policy in individual countries and guide their involvement in regional and continental trade blocks for maximum development benefits. We apply quantitative research approaches and trade diagnostics to understand the dynamics of trade in each respective country and recommend policy changes to improve trade outcomes. We also conduct comparative and cross-country studies to identify and promote best practices in trade policy that can be applied to other countries.
Our work also involves analysis of regional integration with a view of highlighting potential opportunities and challenges for individual countries to benefit from involvement in regional and continental trade blocs. CDP collaborates with country institutions and organizations to technically strengthen their capacities in the field of trade and regional integration.
