Unlocking Youth Employment Opportunities Through Systemic Agricultural Transformation

Overiew: This project addresses the critical challenge of youth access to finance in Rwanda's agricultural sector by establishing a comprehensive national database of agricultural cooperatives. Through data analytics, tailored capacity building, and digital lending solutions, we're transforming how young people access opportunities in agriculture.

About the Project

This project seeks to catalyze systemic transformation in Rwanda’s agricultural sector by improving youth employment, cooperative professionalism, and access to finance through data-driven interventions. Implemented by a consortium including the Rwanda Cooperative Agency (RCA), Center for Development Policy (CDP), and MoneyPhone, it aligns with the Government of Rwanda’s priorities on agricultural commercialization, youth inclusion, and financial sector digitization. Key objectives include:

    • Creating a national digital database of agricultural cooperatives.
    • Delivering targeted Business Development Services (BDS).
    • Facilitating inclusive digital financing for youth and women in agriculture.

The project addresses systemic challenges such as limited access to finance, weak cooperative governance, low youth participation, and lack of reliable data for decision- making.
