The aim of this course is to first introduce the participants to the “Matlab” and “IRIS” environment. Thereafter, the course shall explore application of Matlab and IRIS to the analysis of macroeconomic data. The course with look at analysis of data for the key economic sectors, mainly: Monetary aggregates, Balance of Payments, Fiscal Sector and Real Sector (National Accounts/GDP, Consumer Price Index). The course is designed to equip participants with skills to identify current trends in the economy and identifying what is driving the dynamics in the data. An introduction to inter-sector linkages shall also be covered. The analysis will focus on the purely descriptive analysis aimed at unpacking current and past dynamics observed in the data. Intensive coding will be done to produce a pdf document with desired graphs and tables.
